Dawson Local Harvest:  DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST for June 6th

Shrimp, Raspberries, Cabbage, and More!

HI EVERYONE!

I am delighted to see The Harvest getting new vendors and more item choices on a weekly basis. Let me take a moment to welcome Bramberi Farm to The Market . They are Certified Naturally Grown farmers focusing on fruits, primarily naturally grown berries. Their *Easpberries were quite tasty and they will have other berries available in the coming week.

Let’s all mention Tom’s Awesome Seafood whose Georgia White Shrimp sold out last week! We had some and it was fabuloso!

Leilani’s is also expecting to add Cabbage to several varieties of Lettuce, Carrots, Bok choi, Turnips and Kale this week. And I’m also going to mention the “T” word. We should start to have real quantities of our favorite veggie in the next couple of weeks.

Take a moment if you will and check out The Market menu for this week.

THE MARKET IS NOW OPEN!

REMEMBER! You can order until Tuesday night at 8pm. Pick up your order at Leilani’s Gardens Friday afternoons from 4 to 7pm.

You’ll find the DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST at http://dawsonville.locallygrown.net

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible! We guarantee your satisfaction with all products in the DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST.

Have a happy and healthy week!

Middle Tennessee Locally Grown:  Additional Picture

I’m sorry the picture of the Ribeye Steaks from Paccman Ranch didn’t come through on the previous mailing. I wanted to show you these yummy-looking steaks, new on the market last week. So I’m going to try again! Enjoy!

The Wednesday Market:  It's Summer! Time to Order

Good afternoon on this fine Sunday! The sun is shining for now on this last day of May. I hope you all have a chance to get out and enjoy it before the rain begins.

The Wednesday Market is open for orders. Please place your orders by Monday at 10 p.m. Orders are ready for pick up between 3 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, in our NEW location on Adams Street. Be sure to check the website for all of this week’s product offerings. Here is the link: http://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market

All the kids are out of school, and summer is officially here. Ah, summertime – when the days are longer and the living is easy! This is my favorite time of the year, and I love the cobalt blue skies and fluffy white clouds, bees buzzing, and flowers blooming. Summer produces some of my favorite edibles, too – tomatoes, watermelon, peaches, cucumbers, summer squash and basil, to name a few.

Here is a sandwich idea to try this summer. Take a pita bread and slice it in half so you get two pockets. Lightly apply mayo, mustard, or condiment of your choice to the inside of each bread pocket. Lightly sauté half of a chopped onion and half of a bell pepper in a bit of butter or olive oil. Once the vegetables have softened, fill each pocket with some of the mixture. Sprinkle with a little dried basil, oregano, or freshly ground black pepper and add a slice or two of mozzarella. Heat underneath a broiler, just until the bread crisps and the cheese melts. It doesn’t take long; be careful that you don’t burn the bread. This makes enough for two sandwiches. Enjoy!

For those of you who haven’t yet been to our new location, here are some directions, from our original location on Concord Street (Highway 18). Turn right onto Adams Street across from the Zebulon First Baptist Church, go past the Board of Education on the right, and past the old Zebulon Elementary school and bus garage on the left. The new location is the next driveway on the left, a little bungalow style house (it’s the only house on that side of Adams Street). If you are coming from Griffin, you can turn right on Dunn Street, just past the main branch of United Bank. When Dunn Street ends, turn left, and the Market is on the right.

Thank you for supporting locally grown agriculture and for choosing to purchase locally. Have a great day, and we’ll see you at the Market on Wednesday!

Thanks,

Beverly

Champaign, OH:  Dancing Days

Dancing days are here again as the summer evening grows…
You are my flower, you are my power…
(Dancing Days-Led Zeppelin)

Well, the summer weather, the warm breezes, the opening of even more area farmers markets, and the beginning stages of seasonal produce at both this market, and the outside farmers markets, I would say we are about to be in full swing of our local love!!

It’s time to take full advantage of all that will be coming to this market, each week, now! It’s also important that you take advantage of the early seasonal asparagus, live plants/herbs…we about to see the end of the plants/herbs!! Get it all while we still have them!!

For the past few weeks, your market manager, and assistant managers have been working hard, researching, networking, exploring. Charlene has opened up the local Champaign County Farmers market, and has also been busy with side projects, and her own amazing, beautiful gardens.

Mark has been busy in the fields, he has been busy with barn work, he has been busy with raising Oakview’s hogs, moving hogs, restocking his shop, our market, and his area locations with locally produced product, and busy with his never ending promoting, researching other market venues, and side projects. He will help me, this Tuesday night, along with Michelle Comer of Homecomer Traditions, kick off the Summer of 2015 season with the Mechanicsburg Farmers and Artisans Market.

Me? Well, my little downtown local shop front is doing so very well, I have been out and about researching other market venues, I constantly bake for my shop, for this little local market of love, for the venues I am featured in, and I am getting ready to begin my crazy baking for market season. I have been working on Art Affair on the Square, promoting the downtown, and even had a quick news spot on the Channel 7 news, this past week. I will open the market up in the ’burg, on Tuesday, work my shop all week, work this market for you on Thursday, and then join the many vendors of the Springfield market, next Saturday. There is also the summer season of festivals and events, coming up…

So, not only are the three of us working hard for this little local market of love, we are also out in the trenches, rockin’ and rollin’ each and everyday!! Just like all of you…

But, in these crazy, dancing days of summer, it’s nice to have the calm of this online farmer’s market. The ease of ordering from your home, or any location. The ease of shopping without lifting a finger. Knowing that this market brings you the best of the best in products, prices, vendors…we are very vocal to our vendors, and they know that we expect the best from them because we want the best to come to you.

Part of our market research has been to explore what it out there in surrounding counties. What we can do better, or what we can do to better serve you. Our findings are this…we do local like nobody else does local. We are passionate, informed, loyal, local…we are so very lucky to have this county, this kind of local spirit, this kind of local love…

It’s Sunday…it’s a rainy day. Show some local love by placing your orders. You know you love us, we love you, and we share this love fest vibe…start your dancing days of summer..

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…
Cosmic Pam
